Field Notes

Description:

Our neighborhood has many white-tailed deer and you can see their signs when walking in the woods. The first photos show the skull and broken hind leg of a recently deceased deer. The broken leg was perhaps the result of a vehicle collision. Whether it died of internal injuries or because it was prey for a coyote or fox because it couldn’t run fast enough anymore is unknown. The fourth photo shows scat along one of the many deer paths in the woods.
