Field Notes

Description:

5 mushrooms. Caps convex, smooth with fractures, mostly radial; light brown, darkening toward the center; some margins notched; largest ~ 4 inches in diameter. Gills cream to light brown, crowded, free. Stipe of uprooted specimen ~ 4 inches long, cream colored with some light yellow areas; equal; texture smooth, subtly ribbed.

Habitat:

Pacific Northwest suburban area.

Notes:

Spotted in a depression in a dirt strip between a street and a parallel sidewalk. No measurements made; specimen not collected. Description compiled via inspection of images. Could be Pluteus petasatus.
