Field Notes

Description:

A beautiful Caterpillar I've never seen before, 2 cm in length. It is green with black stripes. It has a yellow stripe along the side and 5 sets of prolegs. The body has turquoise blue along the sides above the yellow stripe and turquoise blue with tubercles on the thorax. The head capsule is yellow. It is not really hairy or spiny, but does have short fine yellow hair when magnified and short black spines on the head.

Habitat:

Climbing a wall, semi-rural residential area, San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico 2,200 meters.
