Caribbean Spiny Lobster
Panulirus argus
36.1467, -95.9985
Field Notes
Description:
Caribbean spiny lobster at the Tulsa Aquarium, look at the size of him! Easily three feet, a real beauty. I never really got the appeal of eating lobster, since you know, they're arthropods. Lobsters are really cool because they can live forever and pee out of their face. They use this to communicate and establish dominance. Just imagine going into a bar and to prove you were the toughest guy there peeing on the guy next to you, and being able to do this literally for centuries.
Habitat:
Native to reefs and mangroves swamps in the Western Atlantic.
