Field Notes

Description:

Broad flat leaves (please ignore the leaflets on the left: those belong to another plant.) Cone-shaped sockets from which emerge the white flowers.

Habitat:

Neglected patch of land sold as a residential plot but on which no house has been built yet...all sorts of weeds and even a couple of middle sized trees are growing here.

Notes:

Synonym: Cheilocostus speciosus
I saw this in the Andaman islands too...never thought I found find one growing a stone's throw from my home.
