Field Notes

Description:

A cream coloured moth with a dark thin wavy band about a third from the outer margins of both wings and black specks on both wings. The submarginal regions were a grey-cream. each fore-wing had a small dark inverted "v" marking.

Habitat:

Eucalytpus forests - mainland Australia and Tasmania.

Adults are seen amongst leaf litter.

Notes:

This moth belongs to the subfamily: Oechophorinae and is fairly widespread. Thanks to martinl for information on this moth.

Thank you so much Martin for the information. I will add this to the notes. I am surprised at the dearth of information on a species so widespread.
Leuba, I have the IFB Common reference text and this dedicates only one paragraph and one photograph to this genus of 45 similar species. Yours is the most common and widespread, as indicated in the Don Herbison-Evans reference. The rest are restricted to eucalyptus forests in the southeast. Adults frequent leaf litter. larvae are not mentioned.
