Field Notes

Description:

This species of roller breeds in Europe and winters(October to March) in Africa. Found in open woodland, they feed primarily on insects

Habitat:

Sikumi forest reserve, dete vlei, hwange area of Zimbabwe. The forest reserve includes a wide vlei, or "extinct" river, which does fill up with waterholes during the wet season, and is fringed with forestland and home to a large variety of species, many of which we saw no where else.
