Field Notes

Description:

An attractive geometrid moth with a wing span of 25mm. It had thin wavy grey, black and brown patterns on the wings. Feathery antennae suggests that this is a male moth.

Habitat:

caterpillars have been spotted on Santalaceae. The native Cherry Ballart (Exocarpos cupressiformis) is from this family and we have quite a number of these trees growing around here.

Notes:

The geometrid moth is from the subfamily : Ennominae
