Description:

Recognised at rest by a hairy bee-like body and long proboscis. In flight, even more bee-like and produces a high pitched hum.

Nice capture of the bee fly. I saw my first one of the season in North Carolina about 10 days ago and knew spring was finally arriving!

Thank you. I was surprised on finding out what it was as I had never heard of it. I was trying to see if I could learn to take pictures of fast moving insects.
