Description:

Alydidae; Leptocorisa acuta (Thunberg, 1783). I think the Rice Bug in my picture is a gravid female. This bug, in the Philippines and much of Southeast Asia, is probably responsible for doing more damage to rice crops than any other insect. It is also a significant prey insect for many spiders which live in, or near, the rice fields.

Habitat:

Spotted in a rice field.
