Field Notes

Description:

Also known as Cagüil, gaviotín.

Long: 42 cms.

Summer: Head and neck with dark brown white semi-circle at the rear of the eye. Neck, chest and abdomen white. Back and coverts gray. Primaries white, some with black tip. High gray. White inner wing area. Pico red. Dark red legs.

Winter: Head and throat change to white with gray nape, dark spot in the handset.

Coast, Lakes
