Strange beetle. Not very attractive. Was all the time on the defensive.

Looks like a Pea Weevil (Bruchinae) and similar to Amblycerus robiniae http://bugguide.net/node/view/88689/bgimage, but the only species in the genus I could find that was in South America was Amblycerus nigromarginatus, but I couldn't find any pictures.
