Field Notes

Description:

This bird measures 20-22 cm in length and weighs about 69 g. His head is in black. It has a region on the bare skin of the face around the reddish pink eyes. The back and rump are white and the lower parts of the wing and tail are black. The chest, belly and Crisso are white. The beak is robust gray in color, but has the pink base. Dark eyes, tarsus and bluish gray feet.
Females have a silver color with dark streaks abundant both on the back and rump as in the throat, chest and belly Crisso. The head, back and rump have a brownish gray tint darker than the chest and belly.

Habitat:

It can be found throughout Brazil in the canopy and on the edges of rain forests, secondary forests, gallery forests, clearings with scattered trees and crops. Perches high on exposed branches, making it quite visible.
