Field Notes

Description:

A parasitic plant species from family Rafflesiaceae. Its size is smaller than Rafflesia arnoldii, yet both of them share similar shape and of course ... smell.
Its host is Tetrastigma vine.

Habitat:

Naturally grows in southern part of western Java, including in Nusakambangan, Cilacap as well in Leuweung Sancang Natural Reserve and Pananjung-Pangandaran Natural Reserve.

Notes:

I found about 37 flowers of this species last November. Specially abundant at that time in Badeto, Pananjung-Pangandaran Natural Reserve. Yet, of course not all of them were in their blooming state.
