Field Notes

Description:

Wings are shades of brown with dark veins and a dark-edged pale median line on the forewings, whitish zigzag mark at the end of the discal cell. Furry chestnut abdomen.

Habitat:

Humid forest.

Notes:

Glad we didn't run into any caterpillars!

I am pretty sure the moth is Dirphiopsis flora. The other suggestion of Dirphiopsis trisignata is usually for a moth much further east in South America. I do not think that trisignata is found on western side of Andes. Bill Oehlke
