Field Notes

Description:

Unidentified gilled mushrooms of the same or similar variety and in the same spot as in this previous spotting http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/7039197

Habitat:

Spotted on the root of a now dead tree in a large semi-urban yard & garden adjacent to a disturbed patch of remnant lowland forest.

My recollection was that it was not dark, but I was negligent in not photographing the undersisde. If they emerge again, I won't repeat that mistake.
What is the underside like? Any pictures?
Thanks gully.moy for the suggestion L. polychrous. It seems to have a very similar upper side texture if not under side gill color. I'll keep looking...
Thanks Phillip for your suggestion. It certainly does resemble the one in my spotting, however "mine" is much smoother/less coarse/not at all "hairy". But I'll continue looking at the genus!
Perhaps a Lentinus species. L. polychrous maybe?
