Field Notes

Description:

common monkey of Africa - often lives near habitation

Habitat:

picnic area of Tarangire - eyeing my lunch and the mantid that was hanging with us. When the mantis flew away I had to intervene and rescue it

Notes:

We have had close encounters with this species on every trip. On the first one, our guide lectured us not to open the van door while he was registering lest the monkeys come in. We didn't notice until one came in that he'd left his window open. On our second, I had to chase one off that was considering my elderly mom as a tree. Then on this trip I could have reached out to touch the one near our table.
