Field Notes

Description:

Also known as Elephant Beetle or Weevil. Large grey toned beetle, dotted indent markings in line patterns down length of body, mid-length snout or rostrum, dark eyes. Plant eater. Quite an active specimen. always moving, unlike others photographed on the same day. If ID not accurate would welcome further suggestions.

Habitat:

Found throughout various regions in Australia, mostly on Eucalyptus leaves. This one on Spotted Gum seedling trees.
