Description:

Tiny bark lice with black and transparent wings, red-orange heads, and striped abdomens. Nymphs are wingless.

Bark lice belong to the order Psocoptera--and are beneficial insects that work as cleanup crews for trees by feeding on excess fungi, lichens and other debris found on tree bark.

Habitat:

Hardwood branch in dense mixed hardwood forest
