Field Notes

Description:

Small lovely bird 10-12cm long maybe, shorter tail that most bee eaters, beautiful colours, emerald green back with rusty to yellow belly. Black head stripe beneath the eye, and very blue but tiny head strip above the eye.

Habitat:

Seen in urban back yard with a lot of large trees and grassy area in Kawe Beach area.

Notes:

Love these bee eaters, see them very often, but they are usually so small and so far away, or so quick.. can never get a photo. I think this is the best one of the bunch.
