Description:

large ~2 cm wasp, very prominent red tipped black leg spikes, black dorasl, abdomen orange with two yellow spont at the base of an anterior black saddle. Eye lense hour glass shaped in appearance from the side. There were two in the goldnerod field in view, covered in pollen, visiting goldenrod flowers for the half hour i observed.
