Field Notes

Description:

Red crest, reddish bill, red overall with a blck bib. Pictured is a male.

Habitat:

Eastern US west to NM and south to FL. Woodlands, marsh, fields, urban, country, gardens.... I spotted this fellow sitting on a fence that boarders a woodland area and a farmers field. The woodland consisted of live oak, long pines, saw palmettoes, etc. The fiels had not been planted for at least two years and is visited by many song birds.
