Field Notes

Description:

A medium sized bird with chestnut coloured cheeks and a black crown.. Only the females have red on the face, the males are completely black and white.

Habitat:

Seen at a birding Eco-lodge in NE Costa Rica, near the Nicaraguan border.

Notes:

Found in subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and heavily degraded former forest .
