Field Notes

Description:

It is the Brazilian heron that has the highest number of colors. Measure 65 of the 76 cm long.

Habitat:

This is a difficult species to be seen frequently. When frightened, flies or tries to hide up in tangles of vines or trees. As it happened in this picture. Not in the habit of walking on the edge of shallow water in open areas without dense vegetation for cover, as do other species of herons. Solitary lives, hidden at the edge of streams and lakes in the forest, as well as mangroves. It is found in Brazil in the Amazon and Pantanal.
