Description:
Distinctive, shiny black Sawfly with dark wings which turn clear on the ends and a bright red thorax. About 6 mm in length. The Alder Sawfly has a distinctive posture, slightly hump-backed and with the antennae held downwards. Family Tenthredinidae (Hymentoptera, Symphyta).
Habitat:
Found resting on a leaf, Totem Bight State Park, Ketchikan, Alaska.
