Australian White Ibis
Threskiornis molucca
-33.8548, 151.216
Field Notes
Description:
Black head, eye and long decurved beak, white body, long greyish legs. Unmistakable, common and a fun part of the parks of Sydney!
Habitat:
Eastern Australia and all along the north and west coast. This one was seen in the Sydney Botanical Gardens, where there are many of them. Besides Sydney parks, they can also be seen in wetlands, pastures, tidal flats, and garbage dumps.(tips if you are in Australia!)
Notes:
"On the Edge"! I enjoyed watching this Australian White Ibis drinking from the stream while perched on a small log that was about to go over the falls and under the bridge. One of many Ibis photos I took while in Sydney. They just kept posing!
