Description:

A closeup of the lion snoozing on the road at night. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..........

Habitat:

On one of our nights in Kruger National Park we booked a night safari, which was great fun! Many animals come out at night that are not active during the day. We came across two male lions sleeping peacefully on the warm asphalt road. One of them moved begrudgingly when the safari jeep rolled past them - the other (the one pictured) didn't bother to move a muscle!

Notes:

It should definitely be noted that this photo was taken with a telephoto lens. Please also note that spotlights were shone away from the eyes of all the wildlife we encountered, and their behaviour was closely monitored by our naturalist guides for any signs of discomfort or stress to protect both us and the animals.
