The true garden mantis is Orthodera ministralis and does look similar. However this has full sized wings and Pseudomantis has half sized wings. The genus name translates literally to false mantis but it is an unfortunate name. Of course it is a real mantis.
False Garden Mantis do not really look very different from the real ones?
It has been very hot and dry but today was good rain - warm and humid. I wondered if she may have waited for these conditions or maybe the humidity might have stimulated ecdysis.
The moulting was successful. Temperature conditions must be good.
That is correct FortestDragon, thank you for doing my homework.
Cool find! Perhaps a lovely girl False Garden Mantid - Pseudomantis albofimbriata http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_mantids/FalseGardenMantid.htm
Thanks Stephen. I actually spotted it a few moments too late.
