Field Notes

Description:

Large attractive golden shiner

Habitat:

Clinch River riffle habitat.

Notes:

I was very fortunate to be allowed to tag along on a fish survey by VA Division of Game and Inland Fisheries on the Clinch River in Scott County, VA over near Natural Tunnel. I am very pleased to say that the fishes were in abundance and some species that were rare in the past, were present in larger numbers. Diversity of these species is good for all of us and the ecosystem.

Thanks Desmond, but this was just a nomination for SOTW. Which was very cool, but the winner was this amazing Pagoda bagworm: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/1840746002
Your spotting has been nominated for the Spotting of the Week. The winner will be chosen by the Project Noah Rangers based on a combination of factors including: uniqueness of the shot, status of the organism (for example, rare or endangered), quality of the information provided in the habitat and description sections. There is a subjective element, of course; the spotting with the highest number of Ranger votes is chosen. Congratulations on being nominated!
