Habitat:

The species is widely distributed in South America, from Guyana and French Guyana, Bolivia and Brazil to Chile and Argentina. Banks of rivers and lakes, ponds, areas of transition between the Cerrado and Atlantic Forest. Ponds, pools and still waters at stream and river edges with abundant aquatic plants
