Field Notes

Description:

It measures 18 cm. The reddish color of the plumage is the main feature. It has long, black beak, with a large reddish base.

Habitat:

It can be found from the west of Peru, eastern Bolivia, the entire Paraguay, northeastern Argentina to the northern and central Brazil. The photo specimen was found in a forest near a flooded area in northern Pantanal.
