Field Notes

Description:

Measures to 52 cm long. As an adult has a gray-green plumage with head and neck violet, beak, tarsus and black fingers. When youth is white.

Habitat:

Present throughout the Brazilian coast, the Pantanal and the Amazon Basin. It inhabits mangroves and swamps along the coast, which exploits the low tide times, as well as wetlands, rivers and lakes, is more common in coastal areas.
