Field Notes

Description:

It has a white mask on the face contrasting with the black neck and beak of dark gray color. The chest is brown and the rest of the body is finely striated in black and white. When in flight you can see the dark wings.

Habitat:

It can be found throughout Brazil in almost any location with flooding. It is most active at twilight and night. It is not uncommon to hear the chirp of this bird flying over the night even big cities in droves. Enough to form flocks of several dozen individuals, especially during seasonal migrations that performs in the South.
