Field Notes

Description:

Body length: 50-80cm
Tail length: 36-57 cm
Weight: 5-15 kg
It has elongated body, flat and bushy tail. The fingers are joined by webbing to facilitate swimming. The coat is formed by two dense layers to improve the thermal insulation. The color is dark brown, whereas the ventral region is brighter.

Habitat:

It is found in Brazil in the biomes of the Amazon, Pantanal, Cerrado, Atlantic Forest and Southern Fields. Specifically in these pictures, the otter was on the banks of the Rio Mutum in the north Pantanal.
