Field Notes

Description:

A katydid this large (76.00mm head to tip of wings) and dried-leaf-looking was the first one I've ever seen - both in terms of size and colour. Yes, by now being associated with Project Noah for almost 2 years (completing this month), I've come to realise that in nature anything is possible! The patterns on its wings (post - 3) further emphasizes its resemblance to the veins on a leaf. At first I thought the pair of peeled off appearance on its wings are some damages, but it has a symmetry on the other side too. It folds its antennae back to the body when disturbed.

Habitat:

Sub-urb building with surrounding bamboo and thick forests. Altitude about 5,000ft.
