Field Notes

Description:

Note that some of these have spots but they are quite small and the birds appear overall dark. This is because they are moulting and growing new feathers with white tips which will soon wear off. Common Starlings have larger spots which remain visible and they appear overall more brownish in winter.

Habitat:

Canalside between industrial estate and agricultural land.
