Field Notes

Description:

This adult red-shouldered hawk was sitting in a tree during a ice storm the day I took its picture. All the trees in the campground were icy, even where this bird was perching. This hawk has reddish shoulders and wing linings and extensive pale spotting above. Has long banded tail.

Habitat:

This red-shouldered hawk was spotted at Frenchman's Wilderness Campground in Butte La Rose, Louisiana.
