Description:

Shiretoko 5 lakes tour, noticed these clustered, wide white capped mushroom that seems to be hiding or covering itself on the ground.

Habitat:

Mixed forest is floored with dwarf bamboo and contains many woody vines.

hello Leuba, thanks for comment. area is active with bear sightings and it's quite difficult to waylay oneself from the approved walking tract so just a quick look and see & time for a fast camera click, also not approved to pick on plants or anything as this is strictly a world heritage site.
Nice natural spotting Lisa. The caps look funnel-shaped - were they ?. With mushrooms it's a good idea to get a shot of the cap's underside for the gills/spores. If there are quite a few, you could pick one and turn it upside down for a shot. it is also important to show if they are growing on wood or ground - sometimes they could grow from buried wood. Thanks for the notes - they always help. I hope someone has the expertise to ID these from the photo and information.
