Woolly False Vampire Bat
Chrotopterus auritus
-21.5804, -46.7486
Field Notes
Description:
That's a specie that gave to use some troubles. In start, we forgot the rind glove (a glove make of the right material to take this specimen with the hands), so we need to improvise. For this, we took my cold blouse, and, fold it many (many) times to pack the bat as we took them out the bat net.
And, take a look in the last photo to see what this one made to the bat net.
Habitat:
We found this specimen near a waterfall, in a region of transition between the Cerrado and Atlantic Forest.
Notes:
I starts my own researches with bats. It's a survey of species caught along the river that across my city. The "Chrotopterus auritus" have a omnivorous diet, but a preference for a carnivorous one.
Many ecologists say that this specie is the second bigger of Americas and Brazil, but, in practice, it's eye-to-eye with the "Phyllostomus hastatus".
