Description:
For identification of the Male Mallard in summer: large, note yellow bill, green head, and neck with white ring. Males moult in the late summer/early fall and develop plumage like the females. Then, in late fall, a second moult produces the striking patter of "breeding plumage" (A guide to North American Species and their habits: Gamebirds). White below orange feet, light brown above.
