Field Notes

Description:

Very large abdomen that looks like a dry and crumpled leaf. The legs look metallic. The web is also large.

Habitat:

Urban, residential area. There is an old and abandoned paint factory locked up because of ongoing litigation (so we hear) The place has become a haven for creepy crawlies, birds and also is overflowing with vegetation that is now cascading over the wall. The spider's web is attached to this vegetation at one end. It caught sight of me and crawled over to the leaves and hid under the green cover.

Notes:

I have seen this spider at least once before and never have I seen it abandon its web...wonder how and why it got this name. Apparently also called Garden spider.
