Description:

Other names: Doodlebug Phylum: Arthropoda Order: Neuroptera Family: Myrmeleontidae Genus: Glenurus The adult Antlion, has two pairs of long, narrow, multi-veined wings, in which the apical veins, enclose regular oblong spaces, and a long slender abdomen. Adult Antlions, have prominent, apically clubbed antennae, which are about as long as head and thorax combined. They are also, very feeble fliers, and they are typically active only in the evening. Adults are approximately 4 cm ( 1.5 in. ) long, and have a wingspan of 8 cm ( 3.2 in. ). Adults may eat, nectar and pollen. Identifying colors: black, white, gray, and brown. General Description: pointy, speckled, tall, long, shiny, dragonfly-like. The adult Antlion, has 4 transparent wings. The adult Antlion, had 2 pairs of wings, and 2 antennae. It had 2 large eyes, and 6 legs. It had a head, thorax, and a long, slender abdomen. It's wings were, black, gray, and brown in color. This adult Antlion, was alive and able to fly.

Habitat:

I saw an adult Antlion, resting on a concrete wall, on the outside of my house. Antlions, are worldwide in distribution, and are more common in arid and sandy habitats.

I went outside at 7:00 a.m. in the morning. I saw an adult Antlion, resting on a concrete wall, on the outside of my house. This adult Antlion, had 2 pairs of transparent wings, and 2 antennae. It had 2 large eyes, and six legs. It had a head, thorax, and a long, slender abdomen. It's wings, were black, gray, and brown in color. This adult Antlion, was alive and able to fly.
