Garden pond on limestone outcrop in foothills of Los Serranos mountains.

Hi andrecoppe, thanks for the info. I only have a general wildlife book where flies/wasps etc are concerned, just a few pages, and apart from colour it looked similar to Ruby-tailed Wasp (Chrysis ignita) which led me along the wrong path!
