Field Notes

Description:

Big winged preying Mantis. Bright yellow and blue legs with a black spot when raised up. Body is green. Large mantid eyes, red antennae. Legs green with a little blue.

Habitat:

Urban back yard

Notes:

I love mantids but pretty rubbish at insect indentification. They are very common in Tanzania and in the urban areas, always around. This one was in my shoes on the door step. He was on the defensive as soon as I opened the door, its the first time I have actually seen this display, its quite intimidating for such a little creature.
