House Lizard (newly hatched)

These lizards are common in India. The skin colour varies from plain and pale to dark and patterned. We are not sure if these represent local variations or are different species or sub-species. The one I saw today has lightly patterned skin. It is a new born with a fragment of its eggshell still sticking to its head. It looks so vulnerable. You can see at least one sibling waiting to come out into the open.
