Field Notes

Description:

~4 inch long brightly colored fish with tangerine under the chin.

Habitat:

Clinch River riffle/run habitat. Sensitive Species: "As this is a sensitive species, and like all species, is worthy of our protection, the locality information has been altered to protect this organism."

Notes:

I was very fortunate to be allowed to tag along on a fish survey by VA Division of Game and Inland Fisheries on the Clinch River in Scott County, VA over near Natural Tunnel. I am very pleased to say that the fishes were in abundance and some species that were rare in the past, were present in larger numbers. Diversity of these species is good for all of us and the ecosystem.
