Field Notes

Description:

Rufous and Allen's can be hard sometimes to identify. This time of year here the Allen's have migrated out and Rufous is still here for a short while as they rest up before they continue their journey south.

Habitat:

They prefered the red flowers and this one was spotted in a botanical garden.

Your welcome. In the Bay Area we have one resident hummer, the Anna's and one migrating that breeds here in the spring/summer the Allen's. Most of the rest migrate through, the Costa's, Black-chinned, Calliope, and the Rufous. And some of those linger.
nice shots, thank you for the informative notes on the Allen's & Rufous.
