Field Notes

Description:

The walkingsticks were very common on this one species of grass at the LBJ national grasslands in Wise county Texas, which is a great prairie habitat for this species of walkingstick. The walkingstick has six legs and a body which perfectly was hidden between the grasses, but some specimens found were green like this one specimen. The length was about four and a half inches with extremely long antennae which were very thin.

Habitat:

LBJ national grassland,Wise county. Was found in a grassy prairie habitat along some gravel making the grass sandy. They seem to feed on this grass because there were multiple ones in a small area of space.

Notes:

This specimen was a female and larger in body size with a green color. The walkingsticks are clumsy walkers and fall very often stumbling onto the ground.
