Field Notes

Description:

Small red to orange ants, sort of transluscent bodies. About 1cm long.

Habitat:

Seen in broadleaf trees in open woodland near the beach.

Notes:

Many ants, all in smaller groups, hundreds, not thousands, and all appear to be engaged in building something out of the leaves... quite a few of these sort of leaf aggregations hanging throughout the tree.
