Field Notes

Description:

A pale yellow moth with dark brown and tan coloring. About 1cm in length.
The antennae are beautiful, like cascading christmas lights (see pictures 2 & 3). The center of each hind wing is semi-transparent (pictures 4 & 5). I believe this is a variant of a species I last saw in August of 2014, see spotting: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/777196004/fullscreen. Family Geometridae.

Habitat:

Garden lights, semi-rural residential area, San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico, 2,200 meters.

Notes:

Thank you to Pakko Ramirez Palacios of iNaturalist for the identification.

It has been reported from Costa Rica, Brazil and Argentina. This may be a first spotting for Mexico.
